Today is a very special day, it's not a day for Lovers, it's a day for Love......

share a little love to everyone,

a sweet of smile,

a dab of hello,

a sparkling wink,

a chuckling laugh.

But most of all, a good hug or a pat on the back wouldn't hurt... =)"

Have a great day!!!

YEAR OF THE RAT

The Chinese year 4706 begins on Feb. 7, 2008.

[CLICK ON PICTURE TO ENLARGE AND READ]

The Chinese lunisolar calendar is divided into 12 months of 29 or 30 days. The calendar is adjusted to the length of the solar year by the addition of extra months at regular intervals. The years are arranged in major cycles of 60 years. Each successive year is named after one of 12 animals. These 12-year cycles are continuously repeated. The Chinese New Year is celebrated at the second new moon after the winter solstice and falls between January 21 and February 19 on the Gregorian calendar. The year 2007 translates to the Chinese year 4704–4705. The year 2008 translates to the Chinese year 4705–4706.

New Years Eve -- Hawaiian Style

This was taken from my backyard just before sunset.

These are some of the firecrackers we played. They are not the "real thing" but a wonderful invention that we have come to enjoy. These sound almost like the real firecrackers, but less rubbish to clean up afterwards.

These are various novelty fountains my son enjoyed lighting. They emit sparks, they make loud ear busting noises and plenty of smoke.

Some of these fountains last for about 2 minutes.

In Hawaii we are allowed to purchase novelty fireworks and play them safely. Real firecrackers can also be purchased but inorder to do so, one must obtain a permit which allows you to purchase 5000 firecrackers. Each permit cost $25.00. It can get costly if you want to play more than 5000 firecrackers.
